Saturday after getting up and getting ready we had a few things that needed to happen and then we were told we could go home. Reed needed to be seen by the pediatrician again, I needed to be seen by the weekend on-call doctor and my nurse needed to remove the staples in my incision. They took Reed back first and later on that morning the pediatrician stopped by and said he looked great! Her words were, "He's a keeper!" Reed did lose down to 6 lbs 14 oz. which I was very concern about but with it not being 10% of his body weight they were not concerned at all. The pediatrician explained that it takes babies about a day to start waking up and especially little boys because they get circumcised so soon after birth that it causes them to be even more out of it for a little while. This was all true with Reed because he didn't want to eat at all (we had been trying every 3 hours since birth with assistance each time from lactation consultants or nurses) until we attempted at 3:30 the day after he was born. So with Reed going almost 24 hours without any nutrients it caused him to lose more weight than I anticipated, but I was reassured that he was fine.
Next, the on-call doctor stopped by and released me to go home when I was ready. I had been getting mixed messages from some of the nurses about going home. The nurse I had that morning told me that I would probably be forced to stay until 48 hours after birth because I had a c-section. I was so happy to hear from the doctor that I could go home when I was ready.
Finally, the nurse came in and was ready to take out my staples. I had been dreading this moment all day. I just didn't know what to expect and was very nervous. The first staple she tried to remove was SO painful, I was so close to tears! The nurse tried a couple of times to get it out turning it back and forth and then she decided to try the other ones and come back to that one. I was freaking out saying I have to do this times 10, but the next one was so quick and I barely felt it. It ended up not being that bad, but the first one did take five tries to get out, apparently it was in a funny spot. So now that we had completely released we were free to go. We got Reed dressed and loaded him up in the carseat for the first time. The nurse came in to check the carseat and then we were off. I got my first wheelchair ride to the car (wasn't happy about that at all). Josh's parents were there to help get everything loaded up and they video taped all the action for us. I have been trying to get the video edited before posting this post, but still haven't gotten it done. I will add the video later.
Happy family of 3 going home!

Going home! Mommy needs a nap....yikes I look tired.
In the car! He slept the whole way home!
After coming home, I pretty much went straight to bed for a nap! I wanted to make sure I was some what rested for the night. When I woke up from my nap, this is what I found! :) Josh and Reed taking a nap together.....so sweet!
