Valentine's Day!

Friday night before Valentine’s Day our church had a hilarious comedian Tim Hawkins come in to entertain and that is exactly what he did, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. It was a great night of dinner, laughter and hanging out with good friends. Then Valentine’s Day morning Josh and I got up and I cooked breakfast! We both love breakfast and Josh is normally the one that cooks it, but I decided I wanted to attempt it and I think it turned out really good! I was so proud I made 5 fried eggs and didn’t break one yolk!

Eggs, pancakes (I used cookie cutters for the I love you) and turkey bacon!

After breakfast we headed to Hot Springs to the horse races! I haven’t been since I was in college and Josh had recently gone with some work friends and was anxious to go back. We were excited to enjoy the afternoon with great friends! It was a lot of fun, but unfortunately we didn’t do that great! I think we ended up losing $30 for the day after eating and gambling on 7 races…not to bad I guess.
We headed home and got changed for a Valentine’s Day dinner at Capricious. Josh had had a leadership meeting at the Peabody and the General Manager gave his team each an unlimited gift card for two to Capricious. We were really excited about having the chance to enjoy a great meal without worrying about the cost. We planned several months ago to save it for Valentine’s Day and I called in early January to make reservations. So we were very excited and discussed the whole way there what we wanted to try. When we arrived we were greeted very nicely and then seated at a four person table, side by side! On one side there was bench, cloth seating and on the opposite side there should have been chairs, but they had pulled them all away, forcing couples to sit side by side. It was so awkward and we couldn't stop laughing! Then I noticed this piece of red cardstock on the table that said, “Valentine’s Day Menu.” I thought to myself surely this is not what we HAVE to eat! Sure enough it was!! So disappointing! We had no choice on appetizer or dessert and we got to choose from soup or salad (no choice on dressing) and then steak or sea bass for the main course. The food was okay, but not getting to choose made it very hard to enjoy it! Josh and I discussed during dinner how much we thought it would cost, I was guessing around $75, I even made the comment if this meal is over $100 I am going to die (there was no alcohol included here we had diet coke and water). Well the bill comes and I see $193! What no options and people were still paying this amount of money? It was crazy and we happily left our gift card and tip and got out of there. I will spare you all the details on valet parking, it was a disaster coming and going, but thankfully Josh and I just laughed about it and went home and went to bed early!

I almost for got to mention my Valentine’s Day present from Josh! He got me a pregnancy massage! I am so excited and already have it scheduled; however, it is not until March 20th, because the place was so booked. I will probably need it more at 36 weeks pregnant than I do right now!

Valentine's Day a Little Early

Valentine's Day started a little early for us this year! I had decided for a while now what I wanted to get Josh. We usually don't get each other gifts for many holidays, and both of us are fine with that. But I love to surprise him every once in a while when I really know he wants something. For the past 3 to 4 months all I have been hearing about is the I-phone! So I thought Valentine's Day would be the perfect time to get it for him! I also thought it would be fun to make it from Reed. So on Wednesday before Valentine’s Day I was able to get away from work and make it over to AT&T. I told the salesperson I wanted to surprise my husband, and he let me know that if he activated the I-Phone, his old phone would be inactivated immediately. He said I could give it to him and then come back to the store to activate it, but I just decided I would get it and then go straight to his work and surprise him. I stopped by Hallmark after leaving and grabbed a card for Daddy and some conversation Jelly Bellies! I showed up at Josh’s work and told him I had an early Valentine from Reed! This was also my excuse for wanting to take some pictures of him opening it! I had place the phone in the card, so here he is opening the card…..
And here he is when he realized what was in the card! I love this picture and Josh is probably going to kill me for putting it on the blog! :)
It was so much fun! The card was so cute it said, “Daddy if I could give you anything in the world it would be a hug that last forever.” I wrote in the card that Reed wanted to get something very special for Daddy for taking such good care of him and Mommy.

I was there for 45 minutes or so and this is what I looked at the whole time! Boys and their toys! :)

My 1st Baby Shower!!

February 7th, I had my first shower and it was a blast! The girls from church hosted and they went way above and beyond anything I could ever ask for! Everything was perfect from the food, to the blue and brown decorations and even an adorable diaper cake. The hostess also surprised me by making a scrapbook. They divided up the pages and each contributed one or two layouts of many of Reed’s first milestones, including the holidays, bath time and even his first haircut. Then came the biggest surprise of all and at this point I literally broke into the ugly cry and couldn't hold it together! The hostess also got me our stroller. Now, I know you are thinking oh that is so sweet, but really have you seen the Bob strollers? Well, this is the stroller we have decided to go with, it is a jogging stroller that is still able to hold an infant carseat. They are pretty pricey; Josh and I were even a little embarrassed to ask for something so expensive. We went ahead and put it on our registry hoping to get some gift cards to go towards it; never expecting to actually receive it as a gift. So after looking through my scrapbook that the girls had made, fighting back tears the whole time and then thinking the shower was over. I look over and see the stroller coming my way and I lost it. They had already done so much and I had already opened so many gifts from everyone, I just couldn't believe it! The shower was perfect and I am so blessed with amazing friends! I am so excited I get to share motherhood with each one of them. Thank you so much Ashley, Amy, Lauren, Tara, Jennifer, Sydney, Laurie, Shea, Leslie and Jamie for the best shower ever!

Look at all the yummy food!

Perfect homemade cupcakes!

All the girls!

Looking at my scrapbook!

I spotted the stroller! I think I am saying, "No Way"!

The ugly cry with all eyes on me!

Reed Update....only 8 weeks to go!

Wow, so much to catch up on! The nursery is coming along and Reed is growing like a weed! The crib as been in for several weeks, so that is all set up and we bought the mattress. Josh and his Dad have been working on a dresser that is almost complete, just painting to be done. We have also ordered a chair that should be in any day. I also FINALLY made final decisions on fabric and my great cousin Tonja is making the bedding and curtains for me. Lots of loss ends right now, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks everything will come together. Josh and his Dad also reorganized the closet and put in another bar so we have plenty of room for all the clothes and toys! My list is steadily getting shorter!

I have had two, two week appointments with the doctor so far and both of them have been really quick and Reed is still right on track! His heartbeat on January 26th at 29 weeks was around 150 and he measured right on time. On Tuesday, February 10th his heartbeat was around 140 and still measured right on time, 31 weeks! Reed has had the hiccups almost every day since Sunday afternoon February 1st and I have felt them very low! I asked the doctor and she said this probably means he is head down now! She tried to feel to see what position he was in but she couldn’t tell just yet. Since my appointment I have felt them more over my right hip and his kicks have be more in the middle of my left side. I think he is lying sideways, just hanging out in there! Josh even got to watch my stomach move to the hiccups a couple of night ago, we both just wish we could see what he is doing in there! I will have two more two week appointments and then I will start going every week. Time is just flying by! I am stilling feeling great and amazingly have been able to keep my weight gain in a very good range. Most days I still don’t even feel pregnant (I am sure this will change very soon) and then I catch a side profile of myself and it all becomes real! We already love this little guy more than life itself and can’t wait to meet him!

The crib! Can't wait to see it with all the bedding!

All the fabrics! The stripe will be the crib skirt and curtains. The navy polka dot and red will be on the bumpers and the red and navy baseball will be sheets!
